Hey everyone, Matthew Sanabria here from Oxide Computer Company. A common question we get asked is,
What do Oxide software licensing fees look like?
Now, the answer often surprises people because it’s zero. Oxide doesn’t have software licensing fees. When you buy Oxide, you buy the hardware, you can pay for support, and then the software comes with it.
The cloud control plane, the CLI, the API, all that software that makes Oxide a great on-premises cloud computer. That comes with your purchase. And this often surprises people because they’re used to going to their hardware vendor and purchasing hardware and then going to the software vendor to purchase software to run on their hardware.
And usually the software is riddled with per CPU or per node licensing fees that really inflates the cost of your infrastructure. With Oxide, you don’t have that. You get your hardware and you get your software all together with no recurring licensing fees, no per node, per sled, per CPU, per user fees. None of that. Which is fantastic when you’re budgeting for your infrastructure needs.
Now, if all of this sounds good to you, and I know it sounds good to me. If I were in a previous SRE role of mine and I was looking for infrastructure, this would be very, very attractive to me. But if this sounds good to you, let us know. Head on over to oxide.computer and reach out.
