Hey, it’s Bryan from Oxide, back with another FAQ Friday. One of the questions we’ve gotten, especially recently, is:
Why did you join Anthropic’s Project Glasswing, which allowed us to run Mythos against our software?
And the answer is, we take security really, really seriously at Oxide, and if there is any opportunity to improve the security of our stack, we’re gonna lunge at it.
One of the things that we’ve been really excited about in this new LLM world is that there are LLMs that are very sophisticated, that are very good at finding vulnerabilities. Some people hide from this, but not us. We are really excited. We view it as an opportunity to make our software more robust.
Importantly, this is not creating vulnerabilities that don’t exist. It’s finding vulnerabilities. Often, these vulnerabilities are very old or very subtle, or both. So when we had the opportunity to join Project Glasswing, when we were invited to join, we lunged at that opportunity because it was an opportunity to make our software stack that much more secure.
We look forward to many more such opportunities in this wild, new world where LLMs are able to find really subtle vulnerabilities.
Thanks, and see you next time.
