Are you a passionate engineer that likes improving processes, keeping production flowing, and preventing non-conforming parts? We are seeking a quality engineer to be Oxide’s onsite presence as a Production Quality Engineer. You’ll work directly with our contract manufacturer (CM) quality and production engineering teams, leading the front line defense of Oxide products!
While Oxide is a remote-friendly company, we’ve found that being physically present during manufacturing is essential to building a great product and strong relationships. This role requires regular on-site presence at our contract manufacturer (CM) in Rochester and Winona, Minnesota (up to 5 days per week). Relocation package is available.
As a Quality Manager, you will:
Prioritize communicating “early and often” as the Oxide onsite quality presence and point of contact for production quality issues
Take ownership over incoming material and production non-conformances, deviations, and production quality issues requiring Oxide support
Work with incoming material suppliers to prevent recurrence of material non-conformances
Provide clarity and advocate for Oxide’s expectations of quality attributes and requirements
Support production application testing for part qualifications
Work closely with our contract manufacturer’s manufacturing teams to understand manufacturing processes, identify risks, and take preventative actions
Learn about every piece of Oxide’s hardware, from the smallest PCBA to the rack-level, including reading schematics and drawings to understand the system
Execute resolution of 8D corrective actions for customer escapes tied to CM production processes
Recommend hardware and equipment needed to support onsite quality needs
Perform periodic line walks, collect feedback from CM production employees, and advocate for continuous improvement
Review and propose improvement of contract manufacturer’s production and incoming inspection plans
Work with Oxide and CM Quality functions to rectify underperforming first pass yields and identify root cause
Work closely with manufacturing and test teams to develop, maintain, and sustain processes and procedural documentation
You will thrive in this role if you:
Have deep experience supporting various commodities, including mechanical rack weldments, cables, PCBAs manufacturing, and other electronics relevant to server hardware (e.g. SSDs, DRAM, CPUs)
Have experience using traditional inspection methods (calipers, multimeters) and seek out ways to integrate more advanced inspection tools (CMM, VMM)
Can navigate mechanical and electrical manufacturing processes and tools to present solutions to our engineering teams
Are a strong verbal and written communicator. You will be an onsite representative for Oxide and you will be expected to provide concise and respectful communications across multiple levels and functions of our contract manufacturer.
Mastered tools and processes related to product quality and supplier quality
Have experience working with contract manufacturers in the electronics industry focused on highly complex printed circuit board fabrication and assembly
Enjoy digging into technical data (schematics, datasheets, drawings) to provide recommendations to engineering teams to address quality issues
Are able to balance cost, quality, and time as the situation dictates, adjusting priorities based on risk while driving for all material to meet customer expectations.
Have held of positions throughout design engineering, manufacturing, and quality
Have lived as a Manufacturing Engineer. We’re looking for someone that has a technical eye for developing processes and procedures and their career has evolved into holding suppliers to account in a quality role.
Possess ASQ or Six Sigma certifications
