Hardware Test Engineer
Are you an electrical engineer who loves the idea of debugging hardware and developing new methods of testing products? We are seeking an engineer to be our lead onsite Test Engineer to ensure our product has been properly built and can perform all necessary functions.
While Oxide is a remote-friendly company, we think that being physically present during manufacturing is essential to building a great product and strong relationships. This role requires regular on-site presence at our contract manufacturer (CM) in Rochester and Winona, Minnesota (up to 5 days per week). Relocation package is available.
As a Hardware Test Engineer at Oxide, you will:
Be the Oxide onsite Hardware Test Engineering subject matter expert. Oxide designs the compute sled, switch, power management controller, and rack integration – and this role will help lead the CM with debugging and troubleshooting these complex hardware systems.
Validate new test functions before transitioning to production.
Work closely with our manufacturing software teams to understand how our systems test our product and provide your inputs on how to improve our test design
Be expected to interface with these systems as you test and troubleshoot our product
Learn about every piece of Oxide’s hardware, from the smallest PCBA to the rack-level, including reading schematics and drawings to understand the system
Participate in new product introduction (NPI) bring-up and participate in development planning with the engineering team for manufacturing and test
Recommend hardware and equipment needed to develop test system bill of materials (BOMs).
Work with the hardware design team to provide DFx feedback and integrate it into Oxide’s product
Work with the team to provide inputs and recommendations for procedural guidance for test documentation
Work with Oxide and CM Quality functions to debug trending failures and provide insight into root cause analyses
You will thrive in this role if you:
Have previous electrical hardware testing and debug experience, specifically in an environment with rapid new product introduction
Are comfortable digging into technical issues with no known solutions, but not too proud to ask for help when it is needed.
Know how to use oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, frequency counters, logic analyzers to debug complex hardware issues
Have experience shipping reading and manipulating software in Rust and bash
Love getting into the weeds of circuit design and love finding new and innovative ways to simulate and test board designs
Have developed and deployed solutions to test extremely high speed data paths
Want to work with the latest technologies, even if you know doing so might come with very limited documentation and having to figure out things yourself
Have experience with leading edge PCB technology and electrical design as well as familiarity with the following areas: DDR4/5, PCIe and I2C/SPI/UART buses
Get energy from enabling robust manufacturing in a rapidly growing company
Have a strong curiosity and drive to achieve the impossible when someone says it can’t be done
Believe in fully documenting your ideas
Enjoy reading the documentation produced by others
