Are you a technologist or designer with a passion for exquisite user experiences?
At Oxide, we are taking a big swing: rethinking the definition of the server-side computer, combining the wisdom of hyperscaler systems with the energy of the open data center — and delivering it as a broadly consumable product. Our most deeply held engineering belief is in the integration of hardware and software: we believe that the best and most reliable infrastructure comes when hardware and software are designed to work with one another.
Hyperscalers like Google, Facebook, Twitter, Amazon, and Microsoft have what we like to call “infrastructure privilege”. They build their own hardware and software to fulfill their needs and do it better than commodity vendors ever could. At Oxide, we are working to bring that same infrastructure privilege to everyone else.
We are building a small and ambitious UX team. We are looking for an engineer who loves amazing design and a designer who loves to code experiences and interfaces.
We believe the best product teams are made up of engineers and designers who take the opportunity to learn from and build on each other’s work. We value a sharp attention to detail and are looking for members of our tribe who share this value! We love working with folks who have a passion for making the impossible possible. If you love developer tooling and making the lives of operators easier through great user experience excites you, please apply!
This team will take complex ideas and make them simple for users to understand and use intuitively. We work directly with our customers to provide solutions for their needs. You will be working primarily on the user-facing interfaces like our API and management dashboard.
We expect you to have detailed knowledge of preferred languages, tools, or systems, but that you are also able to quickly pick up new ones as needed. And while experience is essential, enthusiasm and interest can outweigh experience. We are willing to take a chance on people who want to step up.
Oxide is based in Emeryville, California, but remote work is possible for people with a track record of working effectively remotely.
PS Do you know someone who makes you better at what you do and has helped you achieve things you couldn’t imagine achieving on your own? Someone who has motivated and inspired you? Someone who complements your strengths and makes up for your weaknesses? Stripe experimented with this. They called it BYOT — Bring Your Own Team. In the end, it didn’t work for them — coordinating career moves for one person is complicated enough. That said, if you are applying for one of these roles and know the peanut butter to your jelly, please let us know because we’d love to meet them.
